Hey, I have a small leak. It's not my water pump as I just got that repaired less than a month ago. My oil is fine (no milkshake color)... a small leak around where the oil filter is (help with that would be great too.) The antifreeze is leaking on the passenger side by the firewall. Could it be my heater core? How can I tell? It's a small leak but enough to bug me... Both leaks. Is it very difficult for a do it yourselfer? Please any help would be great! Thanks in advance.

Thermostat housing. There is either a crack in the housing or there is corrosion and pitting where the o-ring meets the intake manifold.

Antifreeze on the passenger side of the firewall could be from a leaking coolant reservoir. Take it out and inspect it.

Anti freeze leak on my neon was at the radiator bypass hose, when you say by firewall do you mean at the firewall, because the only thing there is the coolant recovery bottle or the heater hoses. Oil leak, next time you remove the filter, check to see that a "O" ring is not trapped in the mount, two filters (one on top of the other will cause a leak).

My neon was leaking coolant. Turned out to be the coolant bottle. Our driveway has a low curb on the end. My daughter would hit that curb fairly hard and the coolant was being shaken out the overflow tube.

Try lowering the coolant level in the bottle to the add mark instead of full. Keep an eye on it and I bet the 'leak' goes away.

Thanks for all the help! I'll take a look and see what the problem might be when I get the chance. We just did an oil change and we never noticed of the ring off the filter can off. So I'll have to live with it until then and keep checking the level.

You can just remove the oil filter to check if the rubber gasket of the old oil filter is still attached to the oil filter mounting surface. Only one rubber gasket should be there. You won't lose more than a tablespoon of oil doing so. Then just put the filter back on.
