I’d like to know which one of these two has better build quality, yields best performance and would last the longest. I don’t know anything about Raybestos Struts. Or, are Raybestos and Monroe essentially equivalent? I’m just not comfortable assuming that because Monroe costs more that it is significantly better than Raybestos.

So, hopefully someone here has experience enough to say how Raybestos and Monroe compare.

RAYBESTOS Part # 7171959 Professional Grade; Strut And Spring Assembly $109.79
vs
MONROE Part # 171960 Quick-Strut; Incl. New Sensa-Trac Strut; Coil Spring; Bearing Plate; Insulator; Boot Kit $123.79

Thanks for your help.

Oh ya, the place the parts info from is rockauto.com
If there is another store I should be considering please post the site.

Raybestos doesn't make struts, so they are rebranded from some other company (possibly Monroe??) Raybestos is a quality company and their stuff is generally good. My guess is that they are equivelent to the Monroe-Matic struts, not the Sensa-Trac. There is probably your price difference. Either one will be way better than stock struts that are worn out.

The Raybestos number you posted is for a front strut.

The Monroe number you posted is for a rear strut.

The Monroe number for the front strut is 171959.

As Blue said, I would bet that the Raybestos would be more on par with a Monroe-Matic and not the higher-grade Sensa-Trac.

BTW, Affinia makes the Raybestos struts. Affinia also makes McQuay-Norris chassis parts, Wix and Filtron filtres, Aimco brake parts. Basically, they took over Dana.
