So the weather is getting nice out again so I'm finally gonna look into putting the ldp on my neon does anyone know if a 97 neon came with the plug for the ldp? If so let me know asap if I have to wire the plug in I will live with the check engine light lol.

Are you asking if there is a connector at the pump vs having to solder wires?

I am almost positive there is a connector right on, or very near, the pump itself.

This was in the '97 pdf version of the fsm:

Looks like an overlay harness should be possible if the wiring is not there. Just get the wiring from a junkyard at the same time when you are looking for the rectangular evap with the ldp. It's just 3 wires. Check at the PCM connector if those wires are there or just look under the bumper.

I'm gonna hit the junkyard tomorrow so pretty much an factory dohc car will have this pump? 98/99 dohc neons? There are atleast 10 complete dohc neons at the yard so I shouldn't have any issue finding it. Now I'm not trying to be lazy but can anyone tell me what size sockets id need to get it off lol.

well I noticed when i was at the junkyard the line runs back to the gas tank of the car so I said screw it and left it I'm not gonna go through the trouble to run the lines to the fuel tank opt wherever it goes back there just to fix a check engine light now if I can just plug it up ill do it that way if not 'm not gonna worry about it.

Wait.....

Your car never even had a LDP and now you are trying to retrofit one?

Why?

Your current evap canister should already have a connection to the line from the gas tank. The LDP canister should be a direct swap if you get the under the hood lines shown in the pic. Those all go where there were already evap lines under the hood. Not every newer DOHC Neon will have the LDP. R/Ts all had them and mtx DOHCs I think.

Ok so I need the under hood hoses the rest should be there? Even if I have a round canister? I'm hoping I don't have issues mounting the square canister and what not on the car does this pump affected gas mileage in any way?

A working evap system let's you burn the vapors. It will not hurt gas mileage. The LDP just monitors the system more aggressively and will satisfy your new PCMs requirements.

Ok thanks for all the help my car seems to get terrible gas mileage but I just did a tune up the only code I have is for the ldp. Could it be do to engine mods I only have a underive pulley and lightly ported and polished intake manifold

Yes, that looks like it. There is a dummy connector that you need to disconnect that is there to keep the contacts from corroding under the bumper. You can pull it away from the body, it's just one of those christmas tree fasteners.

96-97 Non-turbo Eclipse will have them up front in the passenger fender. 98-99 are in the rear and are a different part number. To my knowledge and dont stake your life on it, the 98-99 was only different becuase it got mounted sideways where as the 96-97 was mounted with the diaphragm on the bottom.

Sebrings & avengers will have them. I never had a problem swapping them when I ran emissions. I just made sure they were mounted in the same fashion.....Sideways or vertical ect.

Based on the picture above you want a vertical one like the 96-97 eclipses have.

There's a 98 neon that has the pump and square canister but I broke the canister by accident when I was trying to pull it then I gave up lol. The pump is fine so ill grab that and a square canister from another car I just gotta find out were all the vacum lines go.

The canister is the same whether it has a ldp or not. I would swap in a good canister at the junkyard so you would get charged for one part.

I got it all hooked up but there's 1 hose I don't know where it goes all the cars that had the pump didn't have a motor so the lines were pulled off I'm pretty sure I have everything hooked up right besides the one hose that comes off the pump
