Could someone please tell me what the torque spes is for the rear wheel bearing assembly on a 2003 neon? I think the nut is 30mm. Obviously I need to take the drum off, do I need to remove all the brake hardware and shoes?

Thanks

Are you replacing the hub / bearing assembly with a new one? If so, yes you need to remove the drum or rotor. On drum brakes you do not need to remove any of the brake shoes or hardware unless, while you are fighting with the drum to get it off, something breaks.

Use a NEW nut whenever you take it off. The nut is a one time use elastic lock nut. If I can't get a new nut I will use Loctite Shaft and Bearing Mount to hold the nut in place.

Torque the nut to 217 Nm - (160 Ft Lbs)
