Not too much, been low on money... Still trying to locate some DOHC pistons/rods. I have the head gasket here. I'm trying to get the car trailer here today.

Well today I finally got to get the car from my friends house and bring it to another friends house where we're going to work on it. Here's a picture of the car on the trailer just because I think they look awesome on a trailer for some reason....
Image

We got the engine & tranny pulled out together from the top in under 3 hours. That's from the time we removed the battery to puting the last tool away. Pretty good time if you ask me...

The shortblock is still missing a few things. I got the modified DOHC pistons/rods, mpx udp, timing belt, head gasket & a few other parts ordered today. Tomorrow I'll take pictures of the old engine & engine bay. Also going to modify & clean the automatic tranny and pressure wash the engine bay.

No hate from me on the kitchen rebuild. And we got almost the whole deposite back.

I don't think I've ever seen a 420a bolted to an engine stand this way...

While you have the bay empty, it's the best time to do some real toothbrush-n-soap cleaning.
Also it's the only oppurtunity to get a goofy shot like this one:

I honestly could have it done in a day if I didn't have to wait on parts. I need money to order;

Valve cover gasket $12
Valve cover bolts & coil pack bolts Free
Accesory belts $35
Oil $20
Oil filter $5
Transmission fluid $25
Vaccuum hose from valve cover Free
MAF sensor Free
Exhaust manifold gasket $10
Piston rings & rod bearings $100
Spark plugs $8
A/C hardlines Free

Pretty sure that's all of it... Oddly enough I only need oil/fluids & belts to get the turbo R/T running :ireful:

there either rod or main bearings. i'll have to check the part numbers. but they are mopar bearings. brand new in the box. i opened them to make sure they were in there and haven't touched them since then. i'll let you know by tomorrow

just did a quick check online without part numbers and it looks like they are main bearings. there is 4 smaller boxes and one bigger box. i'll have a 100% answer for you tomorrow. just pm me an offer on them including shipping

Everything is at a stand still. Just waiting on the final parts to come-in before I can finish assembling the engine and bolt it all back into the car.

The piston rings & rod bearings are being delivered today, as is the valve cover gasket. Also need to run to the junkyard for some odds & ends kinda things. Also waiting for my new Fidanza cam gear to come-in. Need a set of a/c hardlines also, I thought I had a set lying around but I guess I gave them away.

Those pistons/rods look ok to you just checking? You should have said something I have a set of brand new mopar mains here I would have thrown in the box.

Well, tonight I ended up coming home with;

NRGY race ported magnum head
full radius valve job
1mm over sized valves
magnum springs
Image

Magnum box intake manifold
custom made by Nemo
Image
Image

Longtube header
Crane #14 cam
Fidanza adjustable cam gear
and a whole box full of parts. Pretty much made me turn my direction more towards this car also! As soon as I move I'm pulling the 3.94 tranny and all the 5spd stuff out of my R/T and will be puting it on this car. Plus I still got that nitrous laying around

We definately got a good trade, one that'll benefit both of us but it still feels weird. I guess since I put so much time into that motor. Oh well, I'll feel better when I get this NYG running I suppose. Would be nice to have my daily driver be a 13second SOHC and then the R/T be a boosted 10/11second car.

I got the head installed tonight and everything is torqued down from valve cover to oil pan. Went ahead & polished up any parts I could including the new a/c hardlines I got lastnight. Picking up the only part I'm waiting on (Fidanza cam gear) tomorrow hopefully. Then it'll be going back into the car. Literally everything besides installing the cam gear & timing the engine is done already. I just prefer to time the motor outside of the car.

Oh yea... We shaved, did a semi-wire tuck and painted the engine bay tonight also. :good:

Feels weird for me to because i waited well over a year for that head from nick at NRGY
then i never got to make a real pass with it
so you HAVE to run a 13 on street tires for my sake!

BTW please tell me you took the head apart and cleaned out any shavings like we talked about...(twice) lol please please dont hurt that head lol

I still need to get manifolds, wire up the MS (again)
drop in your/my 2.4 and run it NA for a while

i do not look forward to cleaning out a fuel system that sat for 4 or 5 years

I spent most of my time tonight messing with the head. Didn't have too many metal shavings in it, mostly just dust and alot of it. Hopefully I'll get it fired up & modify the valve body and finally have this beast running again. I'll even let you drive it while I'm down there. Will that make your day butterfly doors?

It was a song on the radio... Plus a mix of me not sleeping, drinking nothing besides Pepsi, being outside all day and being dilerious. It just makes me sing whatever random song comes on the radio. Somehow you managed to deal with me the whole time I was there. :giverose:

Just finished building my SOHC engine. Put it in the car, went to start it and it sounded like it didn't have any compression. Ran a compression check and got 0 across all four cylinders. Fresh gaskets/rings/bearings, everything is new and the head is fresh from the machine shop.

I'm completely irritated about this!

Well I found a local guy that needed a SRT-4 intercooler so I traded him my spare one for:

3.94 transmission w/ pigtail & speed sensor
transmission mount w/ prothane insert
clutch cable
clutch/brake pedal assembly
shifter assembly
non-modular clutch/flywheel

Pretty awesome trade if I say so myself. I'll slowly peice together the rest of the stuff so I can swap the NYG over to a 5spd while I pull the engine back out and try to findout what's wrong with it. So when it all goes back together it'll go from stock SOHC ATX to a decently built Magnum SOHC MTX :bomb:

This is my daily driver. I got rid of the white 4dr a while ago.
Well not so much drivable right now, I'm rocking a Jeep Liberty for the time being... I've learned that I can fit a motor & tranny in the back of those much better than I can a Neon trunk (I know from experience).

Well I pulled the engine out again, while it was out I decided to go ahead & swap it over to a 5spd.

The other guys may talk, but I think it's awesome you found a nyg for that cheap. You also know how to work on thing obviously, so +1 on that too. Good luck with getting it running this time. How does it feel to own a nyg?
