Ok so I have only been driving neons for ten years this year. I have always had a lot of fun with my neons as I learned to work on cars with it. This is also my first project log but have done a lot of projects just never had a log. I try to take pictures but sometimes...well I guess I forget, a lot. I always seem to loose things (I can loose a wrench in .02 seconds, kinda amazing if you think about it. Also I daily drive my neon 24 miles back and forth to work. Now on for the project. I am going to drop a 2.4 srt built engine into my dd. I want to retain all the looks of what I have (minus rims) with this build so just a strong upgrade. Yes I know some will say rice but I like it, please do not poop in my thread So far I have 90% of what I need just waiting on some parts and its actual go time for the swap. Here's the kicker, I have to do this swap in 2 days to be at work on Sunday. Here are some random pics of parts and stuff I have done. Yes hopefully many of you see your parts here somewhere also playing let's find my old part is fun sometimes lol. There are many more to come with updates stay tuned and please if you have any words of wisdom or you see I am doing something wrong let me know its my first 2.4 swap but be gentle with me lol

Here are some pics I snapped last night Waiting for a head to come in so I can button this up Lots of brand new parts ready to go. Also the turbo is blown that's on the table but I am going to rebuild it and when the turbo comes off my car during the swap I am going to use the comp and turbine blades and in it so iits fresh like everything else. Another shot of cam gears after all done and cleared. Stay tuned for more to come.

Update! Ok so in 7 days from now the project wil begin when I get home from work and get a head start on the swap for Friday to hopefully go a little smoother come Friday, I would really like to start it Friday night but who knows. Wagers anyone? I look it as long as the pre swapped harness works with no problems she should fire right up....hopefully. The rest of the engine should be together Saturday night this week so Also got the clutch today, turned and ready to go, this was the last part I did not have I am officially starting to get worried as it seams as bad luck is with me as my fiance crashed my jeep on the way to pick out tuxes for the wedding. so I think I may need a little help from my friend LUCK who has been out of the office for a while. Stay tuned thanks for reading.

Update... So here is where I am now. I got a case a silver bullets and my fiance's brother to lend a hand. We spent about 3 hours and drank the better half of the case. and we got all the down to pulling the long bolt out of drivers side trans mount. Then I have to modify the front mount bracket and get the rest of the head together as I am waitin for the head from the my pops. It should be here around 5 tomorrow so got plent of time to do all the odds and ends including just pulling it out.( its raining and my hoist is in the shed and I am tired. I am still giving my self 50/50 for driving my car to work on Sunday. So here is a pic. Should have update soon tomorrow

you're doing a 2.4 swap right? I'm sure you already know this... but just incase: 1.Flip the trans mount while you're waiting so you'll get some clearance. 2. Add some spacers to the front mount to lower the front of the engine a little. 3. Get some playdoo and stick it on the highest points of your engine when its in to check your hood clearance. The hood may look like its clearing but... This way you may not have to cut your hood bracing. Or you could just forget everything I just said and cut your hood.

mrniceguy0817 wrote: Thanks for the tips I see why that would work to turn it forward. Will do that but I don't get the flip the trans mount part how do you flip it? Or will it make sense when I pull it? you take the rubber part out and rotate it 180. You dont really flip the mount bracing but the internals.

...how can you tell?
To the untrained eye (me), it looks the same as the one you had before...
Silver...3 Spokes...4 Holes so the crank puller can fit....
What am I missing which separates the two?

Ya the wire harness was perfect besides I had to extend the oil senser plug. I get to test drive it in about 2 hours when I get home from work. Other than that it wasn't very hard at all. Pretty strait forward. Also thanks for everyones kind words and help. There will still be more work being done with it in the near future like much bigger intercooler, R/T rims ( chip don't forget about me), fic, lsd , axles, you know the fun stuff.

Ok so I have a situation my last cltch ingaged at the very end of the clutch movement (like you have to take foot off pedal to engage it). Well the new clutch is exactly opisite in the engages right at the start of letting it out. Can I adjust this? Other than that 4 lbs of boost feels great, like really good and I am bering VERY nice to it. Haven't got on it hard because its brand new and don't want to break anything.... yet.

So here is what has been going on so far. I blew my hp oil feed due to not getting it far enough away from manifold, but I was about a mile away from work so I turned around and parked it there for the night to get a new hose and re-routed it so it was FAR away and much better. I have been fiddling with it and got it to idle even nicer (foot note to self..no eye balling cam magnet next time ) the clutch not fully disengaging was fixed by a couple GOOD jerks on clutch cable. Now I was drinking a silver bullet and noticed antifreeze on ground.... started freaking out and relized it was coming from lower radiator hose so put another clamp on it and now no drippy..for now. Also decided to start tearing down old engine to see why I was pushing exhaust out dipstick tube on old 2.0, and just as suspected it was burnt ring/rings. There was no damage to cylinder walls at all but that was probally because I stopped driving it after I noticed. So it will be rebuilt and jon ppe will be dumping that and my old stg 1 clutch into his car ( its not hooptie its a sleeper ) I will be doing some head port and polishing for the engine because I think I am getting a lot better at it,... or at least have better/the right tools, and a steady hand. Here are some pics of port and polish on my head for the 2.4, this was before I polished it shiny but I forgot to take pics please tell me what you think or even pointers.
