 Post subject: steering knuckles aka front spindles

i dirt track a 96 neon sohc, any ideas of how to add strength to the fragile cast spindles? or any part #s for aftermarket spindles?

Not fragile (I've never broken one or heard of one breaking)

and I don't think they are cast

(I believe you will find they are forged)

Stay off the wall ! :^)

Maybe you are talking about the hubs, and yes there is a fix for that.

They are most defiantly NOT forged. They are cast. But that does not mean they are week. Almost all Semi truck suspension stuff is Cast.

For a stronger spindle go with a 2nd gen or PT spindle.

thanks mopar and yes they r deffinatley cast also never have hit the wall with this car thanks...however as u know racing isnt always clean others will hit you and everytime i have taken a shot to the passenger side wheel it has broken. two years with this car third spindle...broke once below strut bolts and once at tierod mount. is 2nd gen spindle the same set up?

The PT spindles are very beefy compared to the 1st gen. They should take quite a bit more abuse. You will also be forced to use a different brake setup though, which may not be the greatest for circle track, you will gain about 2-3 pounds per corner.

Dont have much to add but i have definitely broken these spindles mainly the right front right. Usually the arm that the tie rod bolts to will snap in my experience. Always bring spares to the track
