Is there anything to be gained by having the MSD coil and wires on a near stock SOHC ATX?

When we were messing around on the dyno for the neon book, switching from my stock 100,000 mile coil to the MSD that came with the 300hp turbo car didn't make a difference on either car (the stock one or the turbo one).
