Re: Back in the Neon Saddle again...

"Competition Coupe" would most likely make it an ACR.

The "R/T" was more optioned with amenities that would be stripped off for competition. Things like fog lights, A/C, premium sound deadening, radio, etc.

The factory bushings are soft rubber, that has little holes all the way around the center hole, allowng them a lot of give. The ones in the console are about the same. When those fail, you will be lucky to shift at all. https://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/xlarge/RNB-14044_NK_xl.jpg To...

So - fun fact - front turn signals don’t work if you don’t have a cluster. Wow, that's odd. Can't say I have tried it, but that would have never occurred to me either. Good to know. Not thinking about the high/low beam circuit on our 1gn, I pulled the turn signal switch out of our '96 years ago, th...

Well unless your 2gn was a 2000, the MTX parts will swap into any other '01 up neon. I know, it is more work, but if you have your heart set on an MTX, it might be the quicker option. Have you checked the cable from the battery (+) to the PDC? (Underhood fuse/relay box) If that cable and/or the (+) battery cable is corroded, the alternator may be okay, but the power to everything else might be fading. The only thing that that smaller cable to the PDC does not power is the starter...

The adjusters don't generally wear, so either they are too short, the locating spot in the shoes is too deep, or the drum's ID is/was too large from day one. The shoes are/were obviously in the correct position, or you would not have gotten the drums on. Even with shoes that were pretty well worn on...

A 2000 would not change gears, because the ...

A lot of people have upgraded to the 2005 alternator, with just bolting it in. I would maybe upgrade the output wire between the alternator and the starter from an '05 also, if they are in fact a different part. That would be the only part that might not like the added max amperage out put. The only...

Probably the best bang would be to get a pair of non Magnum 360 heads, and bolt them on. 340 heads are better, but chances of scoring them are probably a lot tougher. The 360 heads have bigger intake valves than the 318 heads, but not as large as 340 heads. The 360 valve seats can be cut to take the...

Possibly could have been an amp in the Sebring, like in my project log, but from my research, convertible Sebrings are the worst place to look, due to the top either being left down, or leaking.
