it's amazing that they are just going to drop it for an SUV type vehicle and walk away. The SRT4 has been unbelievably positive for future Dodge's rep with future car buyers. To just let that go completely is really really unfortunate. They better have the Razor up their sleeves is all I have to say

only to those of us who know.

the vast majority of the buying public only sees neon, and the neon is still saddled with the "hi" form years past. neon sales were soft, and not competive with corolla, and civic.

the SRT-4 followed dodges normal pattern of releasing a performance version of a dying model just prior to shutting down the plant.

i had a plymouth duster in 93 that was the same thing, to a lesser degree. high performance sundance was all it was.

having said all that, those of us that know were able to get our hands on the performance bargain of the decade. all this fun for 20g? sweet!

no? i believe its a perfect comparason.

to my point:

the shadow RT/ sundance duster were released at the end of production for the model. they were fitted with the highest powered engine in curent production that would fit in the bay. it also came with an upgraded suspension, a wing, some nice rims...

little peanut box car with upgraded power and suspension prior to the death of the host body style. how is that not a SRT-4? only real difrence is the import tuner scene was all but non existant so one had little aftermarket support.

the 3.0 mits V6 in my duster was the same bottom end as the 3000GT, had i found a donor car a head swap would have made my duster a real beast, particullarly considering what other options were out there at the time.

because early on in 05 they stopped making silver and switched to white. i think people forget this when doing the numbers.

yes, you have a pretty good point. the srt-4 is just a built up version of an econobox car. however, the 3000gt's block actually is a bit different..espiaclly if you talk vr-4. the vr-4 also got upgraded internals. i have one of those blocks that i'm planning on using the internals out of for my shadow. they have the same engine code,(6g72) but there are slight differences.

thanks for the clairafication, never got past go on that since i couldnt find a donor car.

lost my duster to a divorce. it was a good car, first new car i ever owned. (it was bought for her but i think i enjoyed it more.)

BTW in case you didnt know it, that same 3.0 v6 engine is in some mits forklifts too (they used it about like nissan is using their 3.5 now... putting it in everything), but again- difrences.

8O So I will say if this is true, a little over 20,500 made... I may want to take very good care of my loaded 05 Black SRT4 for it may be worth some money in 10 yrs.? Stranger things have happened. Look at the 1997 chevy Impala SS it sold for 25k new then, it still commands 20-25k used now.If you can find one, they were a limited run also.

Yeah...and look at the numbered Shelby Dodges from the 80's...they are not fetching premium prices at all. Even the nice ones are only going for $10K or slightly more 20 years later. But, then again, if you find someone who is willing to pay out the butt for your SRT-4 in 10-25 years or however long you want to keep it, go for it! But, certainly don't bank on it.

getting big bucks for a SRT in a few years will be like trying to get 20 grand for a GLHS now. aint gonna happin. its still neat, but there isnt enough demand.

i started to keep my car stock.... one of 306 white ACR's, probably about one of 150 with no other options, but then i realized that a neon is never going to be that collectable.

Good to know that white acr's are hard to come by. Mine also has no options; that is what an acr is all about. And beak, fwiw, the pics you put up of your car when you got it are what convinced me to get white over orange and I haven't regretted it one second.
