will a sxt hood fit on a srt-4

Post by ter » Mon Feb 20, 2006 10:45 am

i searched and seen plenty on putting a srt-4 hood on a sxt but nothing for putting a sxt hood on a srt-4. i am wanting to do this because mine is damaged and a sxt hood is a 150 new and a srt-4 hood is 200 dollars more. and the fact that I've been told that the scoop in none functional anyways.

thanks

I don't think it will fit but It might  the underhood temps will rise alot and "might" cause some problems.

I highly doubt it will fit being the different motor and everything, clearance issues!!! And the "scoop" is functional like SRTProject said, it help kools that turbo down, we all know of the heat that bastard puts out...

Actualy it will fit. Just look up mattraff. I traded him th efront bumper and hood from my parents 03 sxt for the hood and bumper off his SRT. The onlything he had to do was modify his pcv.

Someone did a sleeper SRT4 a while back. They used parts from an SE. 15" snowflake wheels, front and rear bumpers , and hood. Everything fit but i'm not sure how much modification, if any, was required.

the swapped SE is mine. the hood fits fine. underhood temps do not rise. the car runs and drives fine. i've got 13k miles on it since the swap, and i'm about to make a 12 hour road trip in it this weekend. (with cruise control installed!) :)

here you can see how much of the bracing you have to cut out for it to clear safely. you can prolly cut less... but with it re-painted(not shown) you can't even really tell.

the 2003 up neon hood will fit on a SRT. Been done. The lip of the hood lines up slightly different with the bumper but it will fit with out cutting as the shape is slightly different than the older 2nd gen hoods.

My wife claims I officially have way to much Neon memorabilia. I disagree :)
