It will be very truck like, but im designing it that way lol. Trucks are my first and true love, hell i own 3 fullsize dodges, two 4x4, and this ram 50 compared to 3 neons, one of which im selling. This is just to have a more modern and efficent truck that i can daily drive without breaking the bank, reason why i got a neon in the first place

That 2.4 is a good engine choice for that size truck, torquey enough to make it useful, and revvey enough to keep it fun.

The stock one is a 2.4, this one is just a lot simpler and more powerful

I'm in too ... I need inspiration and knowledge if i want to someday build a SRT engine'd hot rod RWD thing :P

Great project ! We don't see these trucks up here anymore. Too bad nobody is making a REAL compact pickup nowadays.

Its sitting and waiting for me to get time lol. Ill get to it soon enough though, and make what i think will be a very useable everyday vehicle. I wish companies still made proper mini trucks, but besides the ranger we havent had any since the 90s. Dodge hasnt made one, techically ever(my rebadged mitsu), since i think 92.

No kidding. I had an 86 D50, 2.6/mtx 4x4. Was a nice little truck for me until the engine overheated and cracked the head. Rebuilt it and ran for awhile til it did the same thing again. Sold it then and got an 85 Fifth Ave. I would'nt mind having one again, if i could find one in decent condition.

Yeah they are definately not common like yodas, and even harder to find in good condition. I see them pop up for sale on the forum though(mightyram50.net) and the battle against the head is never ending it seems. Best bet is to replace the gasket regularly and always double check the head bolt torque, or do a dohc swap. Best stock mighty max in my opinion though is a 4x4 1gn diesel.

Looks familar, 420a head? I am upgrading from the SRT turbofold though, just too small, affects fuel mileage negatively and just isnt much fun to drive, I figure a Holset HY35 is just about the right size...its not massive, but wont choke the top end and hit boost in inconvienent areas of the map.

P.S. is that a Sebring valve cover? Its pretty thick.

looks like the caravan valve cover. Yes he is running the 420a head, while im going to be the oddball out the group to run a standard head with a 420a intake manifold lol.

I had considered that...but didnt like it for two reasons...intake manifold height...and it still doesnt solve the turbo manifold issue, all the srt manifolds out there will still set the turbo too close to the firewall...and I am not sure the 420a manifolds are any better. Now...if you are going to run some custom turbo manifold, its not an issue. When I originally built the car I was trying to use as many factory(or lightly modified pieces) as possible. Of course these days I am changing it all up, but that was the original theme.

P.S. as for the VC...yes caravans use it...but its also used on Sebrings..or was before they went composite VC.

P.S.S. in other news, I almost have my new flywheel/clutch setup ready for those who hate the 30lb dual mass unit.

My research shows that the 420a hahn manifold is perfect with a center mount location giving cyl 4 for the downpipe and turbo towards the front. Bolt together sertup for me and i have the underhood clearance with a truck.

Could I get a moderator to move this to the mopar project section? I have a string of updates coming but would rather post them after being moved. Thank you.
