Accessing forums.neons.org

Daily Backups:
The database is optimized and backed up daily between 04:15 and 04:30 Mountain Time.
You may find the site slow and possible time outs during this period as the database gets locked during the activity to protect integrity.

The database is now replicated continously and is no longer locked for daily backups.

Guests:

Registering allows you to track read/unread conversations as well as mark topics and send/receive PMs.

Tapatalk:
The Tapatalk app allows you to view and participate on the org, and most other forums with a user-friendly mobile app
If you are not a registered user, the same guest restrictions above apply.

SSL:
Access to this forum is now forced to SSL via HSTS.

Details on how HSTS works:

Never post any confidential/private information on this forum. No pubic accessible Internet site is immune to data harvesting.

This forum also runs behind CloudFlare, which provides us with the ability to use SNI SSL certificates alongside HSTS, among other benefits.

This means you can no longer access the forum using IE 6/7/8 under Windows XP, as it does not have support for SNI or Forward Secrecy.

IPv6:
This forum supports native IPv6 access via the CloudFlare proxy.

TLS 1.3 is now available for use, and the minimum TLS requirement is now 1.2.
This means any extremely outdated browsers will no longer be able to connect.

HTTP/2 is now available.

The forum (via CloudFlare) will now rewrite any non-SSL link contained within this forum to SSL if it finds the domain on the HSTS lists. This helps better secure you if links or images are posted using http instead of https, where https is available.

If you use TOR, the CloudFlare exit nodes are now available and should be automatically selected when visiting the org.

E-Mail notifications from the forum are now DKIM signed, and will soon have an enforcing DMARC record in order to help combat domain spoofing.

The database now runs on a dedicated instance and is replicated continously so there is no need to lock it for backups every morning. The site speed has been improved as well as a result.
